Affiliate Disclosure
The short version
Neighbor Nest Hub does not currently use affiliate links. No guide on this site earns a commission if you buy something we mention. When we name a product, a tool, or a service, it is because it is relevant to the guide, not because we are paid to name it.
Why this page exists anyway
Many independent publications in this area do use affiliate links, and readers are right to ask. We would rather answer the question plainly than leave it unanswered. If our approach ever changes, this page will say so before any affiliate link appears on the site, and every affiliate link will be marked at the point it is used.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a link to a product or service where the linked retailer pays the publisher a small commission if a reader clicks through and buys. Amazon Associates, retail affiliate programs, insurance and moving-service partner networks, and comparison sites are common examples. Affiliate revenue can be a legitimate way to fund an independent publication, but it creates an incentive to recommend the products that pay, which is why disclosure matters.
How we would disclose affiliate links in the future
If any guide on this site ever contains affiliate links, we will do all of the following, without exception:
- Add a plainly worded disclosure at the top of the guide before the first affiliate link appears, in the reader’s natural reading path (not hidden in a footer).
- Add the
rel="sponsored"attribute to every affiliate link, per Google’s guidance for paid links, so the link is honest to search engines and to accessibility tools. - Update this page to list the affiliate programs the site participates in, and the date each program was joined.
- Continue to keep editorial choices independent of affiliate revenue. A guide will not exist because a product exists to be linked; we would not write about a product because it pays a commission.
Why we still mention products
Some guides mention products or services by name because the guide is not complete without them. A guide about renters insurance names actual insurers as illustrative examples; a guide about apartment noise mentions specific categories of white-noise machines or door sweeps. Those mentions are not affiliate links, are not paid placements, and can be substituted for equivalent products the reader already trusts. We name specifics because vague guides do not help anyone.
How this site is funded
We intend to fund this site through advertising. How that advertising works, what data is collected, and how readers can opt out of personalised advertising are described in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. Advertising is kept separate from editorial: advertisers have no say in which guides we publish or how a guide is written or reviewed.
